PAAY and OpenPath Offer Universal EMV 3DS Plugin to Prevent Ecommerce Fraud

PAAY, a leader in consumer authentication, and OpenPath, a payment technology provider, have teamed up to build a shopping cart, gateway, and processor agnostic EMV 3DS solution. In the second half of this year, OpenPath will be launching a universal plugin for merchants and has already partnered with PAAY to release EMV 3DS plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento.

“OpenPath is not your typical payment provider. Their technology is at the forefront of our industry because of their ability to connect different payment platforms that otherwise wouldn’t be compatible,” said Yitz Mendlowitz, CEO at PAAY in a press release.

Through OpenPath, merchants using Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento now have the flexibility to utilize PAAY’s EMV 3DS with almost any compatible gateway or processor combination.

PAAY’s EMV 3DS authenticates cardholders for e-commerce transactions in real-time to protect merchants from fraud by providing a chargeback liability shift, and an increase in authorizations. Additionally, for merchants doing business in the EEA, PAAY provides PSD2/SCA compliance.

“EMV 3DS is a great security measure for merchants to ensure their payments are coming from real customers,” said OpenPath CTO, Jason Martin. “The chargeback liability shift also provides merchants with peace of mind by reducing time and money spent on trying to prevent and fight chargebacks.”
